All Your Magic Tricks

A Poem

the spark of you
ignited
and left me
with the aftershocks

all your magic tricks
enchanted
and delighted me
till I fell head-first in love

do we dare speak the name
of what’s unraveling between us?

the fire of you
blazed true,
enough for me
to warm myself in your glow

all your magic tricks
cast me
in gold and silver,
the power of a thousand stars

do we use our words to spell out
the truth of what we’re becoming?

the light of you
shines and gleams,
no matter the time of day,
and I’m lost in you

all your magic tricks
run wild, free,
in a cacophony of meaning
that others might not even notice

do we let the truth sing through,
or are we just lying to ourselves?
