Leave me a trail, anything to hang onto the memory of you, and I’ll follow the signs leading me to the sunrise of your tomorrow.

Take me on a journey and lead me by the hand as I delve into the forests you chose for what were supposed to be adventures of a lifetime.

Bring me to the threshold of your dreams, all those things you hide by light of day, and I’ll know the way every time to find you under a canopy of moonlight.

But it’s too late, isn’t it? I wished for too much — every candle burning bright on the cake, every bundle of tea leaves ready to be read — but you weren’t ready for everything I mapped out.

Tell me your secrets, and I’ll keep them safe in the lock box of my heart. I won’t ever say a word, no matter where the road leads.

Give me the grace of your time, and I’ll do right by you. There’s nothing you need to hide behind a mask. I’ll be waiting here to listen every time.

Meet me by the hush of midnight, and we can steal away into other worlds that are far kinder than this one will ever be. I’ll take your hand in mine, and we’ll escape before anyone comes looking. Doesn’t that sound like a plan?
