Queen Natalia choked on a piece of apple at breakfast just days after giving birth.
Queen Annalise had a riding accident while taking the royal horses out with her daughter.
Queen Halina drank a concoction mixed up with poison from the apothecary.
Now I, Kassia, am next. A week from now is my thirty-first birthday. I have no heirs and no husband. The ministers have advised me to go into seclusion.
But no. I know there’s a curse at work here.
What I need is the counsel of a witch.
