Lila knew that Reed Hennessy wouldn’t fathom what hit him when he saw her in the dress he had ordered just for her. The maroon fabric slid under her fingertips, as sweet as a lover’s touch, as she wondered just what might happen if the night ended and he slowly undid the dress’s zipper to peel it off of her body. The thought sent delicious shivers across her skin.

But Reed was a careful man. He had never been the type to abuse his fame, no matter what rumors circulated about him, and she had to admire him for his way of moving about a room and taking stock of it. He had been the lead singer of a band before transitioning over to acting, and that was how Lila had met him: she had been the one heading the writer’s room on his first big break as a TV star. From there, they had crossed paths on red carpets in passing, but never did she think he would look at her with more than passing interest.

It was a marvel the first time he asked her out for coffee.

“It’s just a drink,” he said, his voice soft, as she looked at him with a sense of panic.

“I don’t know,” she had hedged, and he had offered her an awkward little smile that accentuated his dimples.
