Rose Red had always known her sister Snow White was destined for greatness. After all, the pretty dark-haired Snow knew how to charm everyone from squirrels to princes.
All Rose could do was tame bears who otherwise would have eaten her and Snow up. In their woodland home, this talent was ideal. But out in the greater world? Hardly a talking point.
Even so, Snow’s beauty had its downfalls. Once, a man kidnapped her and threatened to tear her heart out.
Rose’s recourse had been to send a bear after the man. It had not ended well for him.
This is a part of my endeavor to go back to writing tighter fiction with more stringent word counts. It’s just one attempt at the 100 Story Challenge because I thought it would be a good exercise to do to keep my imagination sharp. We’ll see how it goes.
