A Fall from Grace and Such Great Heights
You never know when the descent will begin.
Did you think they’d never find out?
(No, no, no, please don’t dig deeper. Don’t look too close. These scars hurt so much already.)
Did you think no one would ever realize?
(Forgive me, please. I just wanted the pain to go away.)
Did you think you’d be able to bury the truth behind all your walls?
(Walls keep you safe — don’t they?)
You thought no one ever tried to see you, isn’t that right?
(You don’t know what they said. You don’t know what they did. You can’t call me the monster when everyone else just hid behind masks.)
You can come out of your shell. You can breathe easy. You’re safe here.
(What makes this place different from all the rest?)
Come out, just come out and try. No one here will hurt you.
(Why did you stop asking me questions? What are you after? What are you trying to do to me?)
You don’t have to hide.
(Don’t you realize hiding is what has saved me so far?)
