A Dilemma and a Half
A Poem
i don’t know where you get your ambition:
could you give me a dose of it before you go?
i don’t know where you get your resolve:
can you spare me a glimpse before the tide passes?
i’m just lost in another page, another day,
another lot in life too big for me to fathom.
and you’re out living your life in the grand sphere
while i can’t even hope to take up my sword this time.
i’m just cast out among the stones, bittergreen and envious,
because i’m so unsure of myself in all i say and do.
and where will this road lead?
i see it now, and it’s gray and murky.
and where will this sky begin to bend?
i see it now, and i don’t like it one bit.
i want so much to be a shooting star,
but right now i feel like ashes falling fast.
if you can’t stand tall,
what hope can you ever reap?
if you can’t run wild,
what strides can you ever take?
