31 Things I Want to Write Before I Die

October 4th, 2021, marks my thirty-first birthday. I’ve done a few “bucket list”-type things — like graduating college and going to Europe — but honestly my brain tends to skew towards my writing path when it comes to the future. I try not to worry about how much time I have left, yet the question still plagues me: Just what are you going to write before your hourglass runs out?

With that question in mind, I took the aspirational route and decided to write down thirty-one things I’d love to write before I go the way of the grave.

Let’s start!

31. A story featuring an anthropomorphic dragon going to kindergarten.

I don’t have many children’s story ideas, but I’d love to write something with some fantastical flair to it. Enter my vision of a small green dragon dressed in a striped tee and carrying a red backpack as he wanders to his first day of school. The idea was partially inspired by my having read Moto Hagio’s manga Lil’ Leo, which features a story where a tabby cat goes to school. I just think it would be really cute and a nice departure from what I usually write.
